You may recall that the youngster really, really, really wanted to have Baby Alive at the end of last year. She named her Lisa and loved all the face paint off her. She fed her, diapered her and played with her. Baby Lisa now has a pretty substantial wardrobe to include preemie baby clothes, and hand knit sweaters and caps. Lucky baby, huh? For the most part baby Lisa is a happy and cooperative baby and when she gets fussy the youngster has only to give her a bottle or pacifier to soothe her.
Then she saw the Amazing Amanda in the store and had to have her. You may recall that I wasn't on-board with spending $100+ on her but when the price dropped to $20 in the clearance section we got her and brought her home (and brought the two available accessory packs). Amanda is not quite as easygoing. She is kind of a pain to program, and because she knows the date and time she knows when it is lunchtime, dinnertime, sleep time, and insists on keeping to a predictable routine. She also has voice recognition but apparently isn't a very good listener so the youngster feels compelled to yell her instructions loudly to Amanda. Amanda likes to do things in a certain order too, and will not cooperate if one deviates from the routine. If she has a question she requires that it be answered before she will move on. For this reason the youngster tired of her quickly and Amanda has been shelved for some weeks now.
Unfortunately, Amanda wakes up daily at 11 AM and announces that sleepytime is over, followed by a request for a wake-up hug, followed by a request to be changed into her dress, followed by an announcement that she's either hungry or urgently requires her potty. I know this because I work from home and I hear her from the next room. She's also been keeping track of upcoming holidays and for about week now she's been announcing that Mother's Day is coming. Mostly I just tune her out until she goes back to sleep.
Today the youngster decided to play with Amanda before leaving for the day and was amazed and delighted to hear Amanda make her announcement about Mother's Day. Now Amanda is back in favor as the most brilliant of the youngster's "children."
