I participate in an online forum for foster and adoptive parents. When newbies jump in with questions they are invariably interested in knowing what to stock up on to get ready for placements. Should they stock up on clothes in various sizes? Should they buy a car seat just in case they are placed with a child young enough to need one? Should they buy a bigger car? What configuration of beds should they get? What they should be asking is how to fix the things that get broken and my answer to that is glue...lots and lots of glue.
During a recent tantrum the youngster decided to take out her aggresson on the hapless dresser in her room, and one of the drawers came to a bad end. Particle board, bad. The right glue can make everything better. For the record, I have used Gorilla glue but find it a poor substitute for the E6000 (which can be found at Michael's craft stores, and at Wal-Mart).
