Today I was minding my own business, coming out of the parking lot at Target when I came upon a fresh auto versus pedestrian accident. I pulled over and got out to render assistance. The pedestrian fared poorly, was laying in the roadway and complaining of severe chest pain. At least he was conscious. Once paramedics arrived I was asked to sit with the driver of the vehicle to help keep her settled. She was very shaken up and upon learning that her car would be impounded (which is apparently protocol in this type of accident) she became very anxious, worrying about how she would pick up her grandson from school, and then began rubbing her left arm. When I asked her about it she said it felt numb. That's not a good sign. I informed one of the paramedics and they rendered assistance to her as well. The two witnesses bailed before police arrived (and they were there within three minutes).
